Gender Pay Gap Report 2017

Gender Pay Gap Report 2017

Kingstown Furniture Ltd is the UK’s leading manufacturer of ready assembled bedroom and lounge furniture, all of which is made in Britain.

This gender pay gap report is based on data as at 5th April 2017.  Our employee demographics relating to male and female are made up as follows:-

293 (87%)

44 (13%)

The gender pay gap measures the difference between men and women’s average earnings and is shown as a percentage of men’s pay.

The above shows that our females are earning slightly more per hour than the males in our business and this is due to more females being in the 3rd and highest quartiles, whilst the biggest majority of our males are in the lowest and 2nd quartile.

We do our best to encourage females to reach senior positions within the business and despite the Board of Directors being all male, the senior leadership consists of 30% females despite a general workforce ratio of 87% males to 13% females and we actively work hard to ensure that females are given every opportunity to progress.  Promotions are, without exception, entirely based upon merit and performance.

In the snapshot period there was no bonus payments made, however, our sales representatives receive commission on goods sold.  The information therefore provided for bonus is actually commission rather than a bonus, as per the table below.

Proportion of Males and Females by Pay Quartile, based on Hourly Rate

Kingstown Furniture Ltd believes everyone should be rewarded fairly for their work and can reach their full potential within the business.  We always ensure we pay based on merit not on gender.  We are confident that males and females are paid equally for doing equivalent or like roles across the whole of our business.

The analysis of our gender pay gap shows that this business is largely driven both in general manufacturing and within our business by males and we employ 46% more males than females.

Kingstown Furniture Ltd is committed to the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment for all employees, regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, age, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, sexual orientation, gender reassignment or disability.

Kingstown Furniture Ltd is therefore confident that its gender pay gap does not stem from paying men and women differently for the same or equivalent work.  Rather its gender pay gap is the result of the roles in which males and females work within the organisation and the salaries that these roles attract.

We confirm that the information provided is accurate and in line with mandatory requirements.
